Gay Festivals & Parties in the Yucatan Peninsula
Gay Pride
The only gay festival that is held each year in Merida, Yucatan is Gay Pride. Gay Pride is held in June of each year. There is always a party in Merida. Carnaval (Mardi Gras) is a wonderful time and is held the week before Ash Wednesday. Carnaval in Merida is not a gay event but very gay friendly. It is not wild and nasty like Rio or New Orleans, but it is great fun.
Another great time in Merida is the Day of the Dead (Halloween) when there are parties and altars built in the Zocalo. You can read a story about Day of the Dead on the Yucatan Living website here.
Cancun has several gay festivals each year. The festivals are usually held in the spring and fall each year.
